ISODD Excel Formula
In this tutorial, you will learn how to use the ISODD excel formula. ISODD function in excel is useful to evaluate whether a number data is odd or not. It will then give TRUE or FALSE based on the evaluation result.
Why do We Need to Learn ISODD Function in Excel?
In doing numeric data processing on a spreadsheet, sometimes we need to identify whether each of them is an odd number or not. This can be needed for various purposes and it is something that definitely will take time if we do it manually especially if there is a lot of data that we must check.
As a simple example of the purpose that needs this identification process, let’s say we are doing groups division for a company outbound activity and decide to do it to two groups for each division with the group for each employee is based on whether the employee’s number is odd or not. If the number of employees is a lot and they come from various divisions, then it will be very troublesome if we do it manually. If we can do the process automatically to all of the employees’ data that we have in a spreadsheet, then, of course, that will be very helpful for us in finishing the groups’ division.
To do it automatically, you can use the ISODD excel formula. ISODD function in excel can help you evaluate numeric data and give TRUE or FALSE based on whether it has an odd value or not. It is useful to be learned and used when you often process numbers and need to evaluate whether those numbers are odd or not in the spreadsheet.
What is ISODD Excel Formula?
ISODD excel formula is a formula with the usage objective to evaluate numeric data and give TRUE if it is odd and FALSE if not. Its usage is often combined with IF formula, just as other IS functions, because IF can do something further from the TRUE and FALSE result given.
Generally and briefly, here is the input explanation of the formula:
=ISODD(value)
Note:
value = the number which is evaluated whether it is an odd number or not
How to Use ISOD Function in Excel?
The following will explain how to write the ISODD function in excel. ISODD excel formula only needs one input which is the numeric data that you want to evaluate whether it is odd or not. Usually, this input is supplied in the form of a cell coordinate or formula which produces the number to be evaluated.
Using ISODD Excel Formula

Type ISOD (can be with large and small letters) and open bracket sign after =

Input the number / the process that produces the number / cell coordinate where it is located after open bracket sign

Additional Notes
- If the ISODD function in excel is given non-numeric data input, then it will produce a #VALUE error
- If you want to evaluate whether a number is even or not in the spreadsheet instead, then you can use ISEVEN
