A little bit explanation about the inputs in this formula is as follows:


=SUM(number1, number2, …)


Note:
number1, number2, … = all the numbers to be summed


How to Use SUM Formula in Excel?


Following is the guidance on how to use SUM formula in excel. The way to use SUM function in excel is almost the same as other formula in the beginning, with the number inputs which are want to be processed will be inputted in it.


Using SUM Function in Excel

  1. Type equal sign ( = ) in the cell where you want to put the calculation result

  2. Type SUM (can be with large and small letters) and open bracket sign after =

  3. Type the numbers or cell coordinates where you put the numbers to be addition processed are after open bracket sign with comma sign ( , ) between the numbers or cell coordinates or drag cell cursor from the most top left cell coordinate to the most bottom right if the number cells you want to process are close to each other

  4. Type close bracket sign after all the numbers or cell coordinates filled with numbers have already been inputted

  5. Press Enter
  6. The process is done!

Additional Notes

  • In using SUM formula in excel, drag cell cursor and numbers or cell coordinates input with comma sign separation can be done in one writing
  • If you want, cell coordinates which are near to each other can also be written manually separated for the most top left cell and most bottom right cell by two dots sign ( : ) (e.g. SUM(A1:B30)
